Laugh to Boost Your Immune System

Thursday, April 15, 2010

“Laughter is the best medicine.” This has been one of the most common phrases used to entice laughter but on to what kind of medicine it gives is what we will be introducing to you. Let me present to you laughter the immune system booster.

Psychologists made a study to understand thoroughly what is behind the healing powers of laughter. So they tried to make the patients laugh before checking their immunoglobulin A (IgA), the soldiers at the front lines of our respiratory defense. Their findings showed that when people laughed, their IgA boost up instantly.

Here’s how it works. This IgA is present in your blood. When you laugh, the IgA rapidly transferred to your saliva where it builds an instant protective covering. So with this, your respiratory system gained strength and protection when you are laughing. So those germs coming in your wide mouth (when laughing) are stopped right away.

Researchers, also, made another test with patients. Some are watching a comedy movie while a few were sitting at the corner frowning. The result was that they found out that those laughing had an increased with their lymphocytes (white blood cells) compared to those frowning. They, also, realized that laughter can suppress the number of stress hormone in our body into half.

In conclusion, if you’re sick or if you feel stressed out, wipe out those frowns and smile. Try to imagine simple jokes and laugh. In this way you are boosting your immune system to greater heights.

Regimen for Smelly Shoes

Smelly shoes are just the worst. It seems that your feet are producing a lot of sweat. You tried to solve the problem by cleaning and disinfecting your feet but the smell seems to linger still. Why is that?

Doctors said that do not blame your sweat glands. Closed shoes are to blame. They will make your sweat glands work even harder. Rather, just use open shoes. Somehow, in reality, foot sweat is actually odorless. However, when the perspiration combines with bacteria and decomposes – most of all in warm, humid, dim environment like your boots or closed shoes – foot fungus sprout and produce bad smells.

The best solution is to kill the germs and not your feet. To wipe out those germs, use disinfectants, like Lysol, to spray the inside of your shoes. Another way is to pour amount of rubbing alcohol on a tissue and leave overnight inside the shoes. Another ridiculous idea is to fill knee-high nylon stockings with cat waste or litter. Secure a knot on top and insert it in the shoes for a day. This should be your last resort.

As much as possible change shoes in different seasons. Winter shoes suffer a lot. Do not wear the same shoes every day. Let it dry first under the sun after a sweaty exercise or possible wash it right away. Airing out those shoes after gym workout and wear them again when you feel it is not wet anymore. If possible just wear an open sandal afterwards.

Different Approach to Lose Fats

You have worked out really hard for hours and you felt discouraged for you didn’t lose that much fats. Then you add more hours and more weights then you started to feel the fatigue but still not much progress. You felt that you might as well give up and face reality that you are what you are now. Wait! Before deciding to give up, why not try a different approach to lose those hated fats?

There are studies that show that metabolism remained high for hours after high-intensity strength workout. That means you don’t need to do hours to do those hard exercises. Rather, a short but high-intensity training is what you need.

This is how it works. You do short but fast five-minute pedals in the stationary bike combined with more slower exercises. The slower exercises are more on resistance training. Repeat this twice or thrice a day. You don’t feel convinced with this kind of approach?

Now, let me explain the reasons. Studies showed that after short bursts of high-intensity workout or activity, a man’s heart rate never fall less than 120 to 130 beats every minute. So, when you are resting after that high-intensity exercise, you are already burning those fats away. Then the resistance workouts build leaner and stronger muscle tissues. This kind of muscle is metabolically fat-burners.

Instead of tiring yourself much, just try this kind of approach and see how it works. A bit of reminder, you should, also, lessen fat or calorie intake per day to help lose faster.
